![]() I appreciate your sentiment about your vinyl timecode thing, but I can't see it happening any other way. I mean, if you misunderstood, that's unfortunate, but in this thread and the other you really sound like NI is some monster corporation out to screw the little guy. It's not like you were mislead about the profit-making potential about Reaktor, I think. ![]() I just know what I like, and software is a deeply personal subject for everyone.īut I'm fairly confident the $700 I spent on Max/MSP will come back to me through being able to sell things I create, I can't say the same thing about the money I've spent on Reaktor.Ĭlick to expand.I don't mean to irritate you further, but you seem to be annoyed with something that, to me, doesn't make much sense. I'm really a novice when it comes to DSP so my opinion isn't worth the photons transmitting it to your eyes. Not to mention the ability to roll VSTs to resell. I think Reaktor is neat and useful but the idea of being able to write C++ external libraries and link to them in max really makes the possibilities unlimited. In some ways it's overkill, but I think Max really leverages open formats which is very attractive to me.įrom a design standpoint I can't speak authoratively on Max as I'm still a novice, but I laid out my $700 for Max/MSP/Jitter last night after playing with their demos, I'm sold. I honestly haven't been much of a Max guy in the past, the UI seemed confusing/ugly for me when I used the demos - but the new features of the built-in help system / HTML browser seem pretty neat as does the idea of writing javascript UIs and being able to use OpenGL and all that stuff. So far I think Max is pretty good - the initial release of 5 doesn't allow stand-alone VST making, but is promised to be restored in the near future. ![]()
